Like “Darling” with a C.
At the tender age of 8, Carling published her first work, Titanic Sisters—a heartwarming tale about sisterly love guiding two young girls through the rocky seas of tragedy. Despite an early critic’s claim that the 1997 illustrated novella seemed a bit “derivative,” its release propelled Carling’s passion for storytelling.
After years of youthful dalliance in several artistic mediums, Carling would later go on to spend a decade in higher education, writing about everything from the queer implications of post-apocalyptic fiction and the language of monster stories to conceptions of time and space in modern literature.
Today, Carling focuses on creating stories for her clients. Going beyond simply churning out copy, Carling writes everything from short, quippy ads and CTAs to heavily researched articles with a world-building mindset—ensuring each piece is crafted with depth and complexity.
When she’s not writing, Carling is either testing the speed of sound or working on becoming a permanent fixture in her living room (there’s no in between). She loves rock climbing, lifting, and thrifting just as much as she enjoys a day of crocheting and binge-watching her favorite horror franchise(s). Carling is also a strong advocate of a daily iced coffee and lil treats, natal chart readings, and living your own vibe.
